SOP — PopOff Production Launch (Google Play Store)

📌 Purpose

This document outlines the full process for submitting and launching PopOff to the public Google Play Store (Production Track).

🧠 Overview Flow

Stable Build → Store Listing Finalization → Policy Checks → Production Release → Monitor Launch

1️⃣ Confirm Production Readiness

Minimum Requirements Before Launch

  • ✅ App stable (no crashes)

  • ✅ All core features working:

  • Categories

  • Card generation
  • Copy function
  • Sound toggle
  • ✅ Tested by multiple users (closed testing)
  • ✅ No critical bugs reported
  • ✅ UI polished (fonts, spacing, layout)

🔥 Google Requirement (Important)

Google often requires:

  • 12 testers
  • 14 days of testing activity

Make sure:

  • testers installed and used the app
  • no blocking issues exist

2️⃣ Final Build Prep

Update version in app.json

"version": "1.1.0"

Use a meaningful production version jump (not 1.0.x)

Build production AAB

eas build -p android --profile production

Download final AAB from Expo.dev

Name it cleanly:

popoff-production-v1.1.0.aab

3️⃣ Prepare Play Store Listing

Navigate in Play Console:

App → Store Presence → Main Store Listing

Required Fields

App Name

PopOff

Short Description (80 chars)

Example:

Savage roasts, smooth rizz, and hilarious jokes at your fingertips.

Full Description

Example:

PopOff is your go-to app for rizz, roasts, puns, dad jokes, and your mama comebacks.

Whether you're trying to impress, roast your friends, or just laugh, PopOff delivers.

🔥 Features:
- Multiple categories (Rizz, Roasts, Puns, Jokes, Mama)
- Tap or swipe to generate lines
- Copy and share instantly
- Sound effects for extra punch (optional)

Upload your finalized PopOff icon (512x512)

Feature Graphic (required)

  • Size: 1024 x 500
  • Branding + tagline
  • Clean, readable

Screenshots (very important)

Provide 2–5 screenshots:

  1. Home screen with card
  2. Category selection
  3. Sound popup
  4. Copy feature
  5. Action screen (POP OFF button)

4️⃣ Content Rating

Navigate:

Policy → App Content → Content Rating

Complete questionnaire:

  • Likely rating: Teen

  • Because of:

  • roasts

  • mild humor / language

5️⃣ Target Audience

Set:

  • Age: 13+
  • Not primarily for children

6️⃣ App Access

Select:

  • No login required

7️⃣ Data Safety

Navigate:

Policy → Data Safety

For PopOff (current state):

  • No data collected
  • No tracking
  • No personal info stored

Answer:

  • “No data collected”

8️⃣ Ads Declaration

  • Select: No ads (unless you add them later)

9️⃣ Permissions Review

Ensure:

  • No unnecessary permissions
  • Audio usage is minimal and justified

🔟 Create Production Release

Navigate:

Release → Production → Create new release

Upload AAB

  • Upload your production .aab

Release Notes

Example:

v1.1.0 — Official Launch 🚀

- Full PopOff experience released
- Categories: Rizz, Roasts, Puns, Jokes, Mama
- Sound effects (optional)
- Improved UI and performance

1️⃣1️⃣ Review & Submit

  • Review all warnings
  • Fix any blocking issues
  • Click Submit for review

1️⃣2️⃣ Google Review Process

Typical timing:

  • 1–24 hours

Possible outcomes:

  • ✅ Approved
  • ⚠️ Rejected (policy issue)
  • 🟡 Needs changes

1️⃣3️⃣ After Approval

Once approved:

  • App becomes LIVE in Play Store
  • Searchable by users
  • Public installs enabled

1️⃣4️⃣ Post-Launch Checklist

Immediately verify:

  • Install from Play Store (not tester link)
  • App opens correctly
  • Version matches production
  • Features working
  • Icon correct

1️⃣5️⃣ Monitor Early Feedback

Watch:

  • Crashes (Play Console)
  • Reviews
  • Tester feedback
  • Performance
